STAM STOOL
Bar stool with leather upholstery and metal structure
Product details
The Stam Stool IBFOR reproduces the original design of the homonymous chair, adapting it to the dimensions of a stool. The Stam Stool’s structure consists entirely of chromed tubular steel, with sled base and rubber feet, while seat and backrest are in reinforced full grain leather or in Cavallino (Caf hair) leather. Mart Stam’s fame as a designer derives almost exclusively from his invention of the chair of unparalleled lightness and simplicity. Stam first built as a prototype for his wife, using pieces of gas tubingand elbow joints. In the space of a few weeks (1926), when Stam had shown his ideas at the Stuttgart exhibition, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer came out with cantilevered chairs of their own, improving on Stam’s original idea, which included a crossbar between the front vertical.
