Practical tips for the cleaning and care of wooden furniture

How to maintain wooden furniture over time

Whether for furnishing a home, an office or a hotel, the choice of using wood for the creation of various accessories is always a very appropriate one, as it is a very versatile natural material, elegant and beautiful in its appearance in all types and finishes, and above all is timeless.

The beauty of wood must, however, be preserved. How can we make it last?

To clean wood, there are specific products on the market, but cleaning can also be done using simple and natural methods. Moreover, possible damage can be avoided by taking small precautions.

Our tips for cleaning wood

The first step in cleaning wooden furniture is always to clean it periodically to remove dust. Simply wipe the surfaces with a microfibre cloth or soft bristle brush. This simple operation will prevent scratches and abrasions.

Two very important allies in the care of wooden furniture are water and vinegar. These two elements must be mixed together in equal parts. Then, with the help of a soft cloth soaked in this solution, we can proceed to clean the surface. It is very important to dry well.

To degrease the wood we recommend the use of neutral detergents; it is important that these are gentle and non-abrasive. We recommend mixing the detergent with lukewarm water and applying the mixture with a soft cloth. Again, this must be dried very well to avoid moisture build-up.

Mistakes to avoid when cleaning wood

  • Wooden furniture should first of all be placed on floors without unevenness, to ensure its maximum stability.
  • Prolonged exposure to sunlight or heat sources or heat pipes can cause alterations to wooden surfaces and weaken their structure.
  • Products containing solvents and aggressive chemicals must never be used to treat wood
